A Simple Swing

Filed under: Golf Driving — Tags: , — Teeto Green @ 12:17 am

Is there such a thing for us golfing amateurs, the simple golf swing that we can all have and what’s more important, a swing that we can consistently repeat over and over again?

While golf is a game with a simple concept, which is that you are supposed to hit a ball towards a hole at the other end, then just knock it in the hole, there is much difficulty in achieving that task.

Eighty percent of all golfers don’t get to achieve a handicap of less than 18. This is simply because of inconsistency in their own golfswing.

Achieving this seemingly elusive formula for consistency can and will help you to hit the ball square-on, more often than not, allowing you to drive further, and more accurately each time.

Most say such a swing is out of reach for most of us regardless of how much we try to copy the techniques and motions of the tour pros. We just aren’t able to reproduce their results consistently.

What hope does the average golfer have of achieving a low handicap, with the simple golf swing that is unique to each and everyone of us? How can we achieve exceptional results from our own swing that we already have within us?

THE SIMPLE GOLF SWING- THE KEY TO CONSISTENCY?

The simple golf swing is a swing where there is no wasted movement, is easy to do and is repeatable.
One secret to a good golfswing is to have a stable, straight spine which you can work around. Keeping it straight will enable you to use your spine as an axis from which your swing rotates.

Ideally you don’t want to have to many unnecessary movements like swaying as you swing, this makes you waste a lot of energy and lose focus of what your supposed to do which is hit the golf ball squarely.
The best way to achieve consistency is to coil around your spine and limit any hip rotation which will allow you to generate power into your golfswing.

HOW TO GENERATE POWER WITH THE SIMPLE GOLF SWING

Generating power is what we all want from our golfswing, it is crucial to achieving the results we deserve, like driving that little white ball 400yards down the middle of the fairway, then it’s just a chip and a putt for birdie. Sound good does it not? Getting that shoulder rotation and coil around the spine, limiting hip movement, maintaining a solid balanced stance are keys to a powerful simple golf swing.
Also making sure your downswing is fully released through impact, that after impact your arms are completely crossed, forming an X at the intersection of your forearms. Remember keeping your eyes on or just behind the golf ball always helps to. It’s surprising how often we might forget that.
